Blog 8: English Language Challenges

 Hello everyone :)

This is my last blog, and today I will talk about the experience of learning English at university and the use of blogs.

Learning English during my middle school and university didn’t change so much as in both cases a great focus was made on the 4 skills to learn a language: reading, speaking, writing and listening.

That’s why the system made me feel too comfortable and I was able to keep up with it easily, however, I feel that I participated very little in the online classes which caused me to lose the possibility of learning more vocabulary or ways to ask answers or questions than if I had been more present, On the other hand, I find it interesting to use different artists, whether Latino or African-American, to learn more slangs of the language and not to speak as strictly and formally as an Anglo-Saxon actually does.

I would also liked that the recorded videos not had a minimum length since for people who speak fast (as is my case) for us are very difficult to reach the 2 minutes talking as we say everything necessary in 30 seconds. But overall I think it is a good course and has a lot of potential for students who want to improve their English quality.

Outside of English classes at the university I usually listen to a lot of music in English, watch films and series as well as trying to keep in touch with people from other English-speaking countries so that they can learn more fluent and less formal English than is usually taught academically. In addition I have family that speaks English then from time to time usually establish conversations in that language
